Today pupils at St. Maria Goretti hung up all the postcards we have received so far. Some other pupils want to take part so we are going to teach them them the Hello song.

American Kiddos Check Out A Queen Stamp

I teach third grade in a rural small town in Michigan, USA, and we were just delighted to receive a postcard from Lincoln, England! In addition to marveling at a beautiful accent when listening to the postcard read aloud, my students were fascinated to hear that although we in the USA do not have a royal family, there are countries that certainly do. Now, 26 third graders are wishing that OUR country had royal postage stamps!

Victoria Park Primary Postcards

Hello everyone, 
An update from Victoria park primary pupils!
We were delighted to receive some beautiful postcards from Latvia, Bulgaria and Greece recently. Thank you very much. We look forward to watching your video clips and replying to these shortly.

We have been busy designing and writing our additional postcards to Croatia, Latvia and Greece. These were sent out two days ago. We hope these arrive with you soon! We have aslo been working hard to learn our line with signs for the new HOTW song too! Nearly ready to film :-)

After many attempts we have finally managed to accept the blog request and pupils will be able to look through the blogs and comment next week!
We are new to these blogs so will need to learn how to use!

Postcard activity at Ysgol Hendrefelin (Wales)

Pupils across all key stages at Ysgol Hendrefelin are participating in the postcard activity as part of HOTW: Can You See What I Say?

They have been really excited to receive postcards from schools across Europe and the wider world and all staff are pleased as it fits so well into the new revised curriculum for Wales and the strand of global citizenship. Literacy, digital competency, creativity and social communication skills are also covered within this fantastic activity.

So far, we have received postcards from St Rose of Lima Primary School in Glasgow, Birkhill Primary School in Dundee, Francis Olive Anderson Primary in Lincolnshire, Josef Atila Primary School in Hungary and Kindergarten of Mayrothalassol in Greece.

We have also sent postcards to Dundee University in Scotland, Szkola Podstawawa w Czersku in Poland, Obroshyno Lev Shankovsky School in the Ukraine, Ploske School in the Ukraine, Duncow Primary School in Scotland, Francis Olive Anderson Primary School in England, Dunbarney Primary School in Scotland and Jeanne D'Arc Primary School in Greece. 

As we start our activities for St David's Day on March 1st - our National Day in Wales, we started to think about what we could do to link to the Postcard activity. Pupils in Year 11 suggested that we make our own postcards to send to schools instead of buying them which is quite expensive.

Within each class, we talked about Wales, our national emblems, what makes us proud to be Welsh and how we could put that on to a postcard. We looked at postcards on the Internet to get ideas and then all classes started their art work. 

We were really pleased with the outcomes. All pupils, from all year groups and all abilities took part in this activity - we wanted to make it fully inclusive and we hope that should you be one of the lucky schools to receive a postcard from us, you will appreciate the time and effort that each individual pupil put into designing and creating their card.

Here are a selection of the cards pupils have produced so far... we are aiming to produce as many cards as possible around St David's Day so that we have a collection ready to send out over the duration of the project.

It has made all pupils proud of their heritage.....

Postcards Update

At Birkhill Primary in Scotland, P3 and P4 have now sent a total of 7 postcards across the world.  We have recieved 1 postcard from Oregon, USA and enjoyed learning about the school that sent it to us :) We hope to receive more soon and look forward to people contacting us via our Padlet page when they receive postcards from us :)

I hope you are enjoying sending and receiving postcards from around the world.  I am enjoying seeing your pictures and reading your stories about the postcards.

If you have sent your last batch of postcards you are allowed to sign up for a new set of schools to send postcards to you.

Our school is in the North East of Italy, in the countryside. It has got 10 classes and 181 pupils.

In our class 5°A there are eighteen pupils, 12 boys and 6 girls.

"Jeanne d'Arc" Primary 6,class 1 Cards and songs

We are Primary 6 pupils in "Jeanne d'Arc" school in Piraeus,Greece.Our school is in the centre of the city.

We work on this special project during our English language class and feel really excited!

We are all so happy to be able to communicate with so many pupils and their teachers around Europe.We like writing postcards,record videos and create QR codes for them.Our class teams also prepare the texts that we are using to update the HOTW blog.As this is the first time that we have done something like that,our English Language teacher checks everything and gives us instructions.We find this project so interesting as it can include everyone no matter what their age, nationality or skills are.
