Postcard Blogging

The postcard part of the HOTW project is now in the second section phase with schools who participated in the first phase being allocated a new set of schools to send postcards to.  Hopefully schools will now receive postcards from three schools this month or next month.  In December last year, there was lots of valuable learning taking place where children were creating postcards or selecting shop purchased postcards that represented their home town/ country.  Pupils decided what should be written on the postcards alongside what th QR codes should link too.  Schools that received postcards have been very excited about what was behind each QR code to learn about their global peers.  All this wonderful learning has been shared on the HOTW FB group which has bee wonderful to read, the only problem is the main people, the children are not seeing this.  To capture this wonderful learning, this blog will now be the place where teachers and students can share their learning and communicate with their peers.  A one stop shop rather too many pieces of technology.

To be able to track the Postcard part of the project, teachers and students should use the label 'postcards', so that all posts related to postcards can then be narrowed down.  Other labels that can be used is the school's name, country etc.  What is important is using the 'postcard' label.

This is the same for those involved in the Teddy part of the project.  Any posts should have the label 'Ted' so that Ted's posts can be found among all the ones that are placed on this blog.

The following video was created by Mirela Dješka in Croatia of her pupils receiving a postcard and engaging with it.

  2. It's a really good idea to keep everything in one place as it can get a bit confusing using different modes of technology

  11. This has been such a wonderful project. It provides me with a great opportunity to teach social studies to my students and connect them with a global community of learners.
